ADSL (Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line) works by allowing your telephone line to be used for speech & data at the same time and allows speeds of between 10-40 times faster than standard 56K dial-up modem, depending on which service you purchase from your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

A micro filter should be used on all active BT telephone sockets. Micro filters allow the low frequencies used in speech to be filtered off from the higher frequencies utilised by Broadband (ADSL). If you are using ADSL Broadband and do not use a Micro Filter on all BT telephone sockets where either a telephone/computer or both is used interference will be present.
